About the programs

What do I get when I order Child Anxiety Tales or Camp Cope-A-Lot?

Once you complete registration and payment on our Programs page, you will receive (1) an email receipt and (2) an email with your username and password for logging in to the program.

You will have access to the full program from the date of purchase for the length of your subscription. Each login is limited to 3 devices.

What age range are the programs designed for?

The Child Anxiety Tales program is designed to be used by parents. The examples and strategies are relevant for anyone struggling with anxiety, and most specifically for children and adolescents ages 7 to 17.

The Camp Cope-A-Lot program is designed for kids ages 7 to 13 to use with the support of a “coach,” who could be a school or community mental health provider. A parent or guardian can also serve as a coach, although we have not yet tested in a research trial whether it is as effective as with a mental health provider.

How long does it take to go through Child Anxiety Tales?

We recommend going through 1 module every few days. There are 10 modules in total. The first few are more informational and the second half more instructional. You may prefer to go through it all at once, then go back through the second half as you start using the strategies with your child.

How long does it take to go through Camp Cope-A-Lot?

We recommend going through 1 module every week. There are 12 modules in total. The first few are more informational, and the second half calls on the coach to support practice.

Can my child go through the program with me?

Child Anxiety Tales is designed for parents and might be a little dense for kids. That said, there may be parts you would like to share with your child to help the conversation. We recommend going through the modules first, then choosing the parts you think are right for your child.

Camp Cope-A-Lot is designed for kids, so the content is meant for them to learn from directly. Coaching sessions 6 through 12 need adult support to plan and practice.

What will I need to run the program?

You will need to register and pay for access on our Programs page. The programs run online, so you will need a good internet connection for the best experience. If your connection is unreliable, you can download the modules to your computer and view them offline (you will need to be online to log in and download).

Access, groups, and privacy

Can I share my login with other parents?

If you are a parent, you can use your login as often as you like. If you have two children, you only need to buy the program once and can use it for both. If there is another parent or guardian in your home, you may share your login. Keep in mind that each login is limited to 3 devices.

What about large groups, schools, and clinics?

If you are a professional (a teacher, counselor, therapist, social worker, or other professional), you can buy the program to share content with your students or clients. Your license does not allow sharing login information with other professionals, parents, or students. If your colleagues or clients are interested, please ask them to contact Dr. Muniya Khanna at muniya@muniyakhannaphd.com about group sales and purchase orders.

Thank you for respecting the licensing rules. It helps us keep developing and offering evidence-based content to all the families who may benefit.

Do you have programs for schools?

Yes. Camp Cope-A-Lot can be used by school-based mental health staff. For group sales and purchase orders, contact Dr. Muniya Khanna at muniya@muniyakhannaphd.com.

Treatment manuals for providers and school mental health professionals, including the Coping Cat therapist manuals, are available from Workbook Publishing. See also our Therapist Training Resources.

Is my personal information safe?

Symptom Checker responses are stored to your personal account on a private server, and the Symptom Checker collects no personal health information. We do not sell, rent, lease, or trade any information about you.

What our programs are not

What Camp Cope-A-Lot is not

Camp Cope-A-Lot does not replace professional psychological, medical, or mental health services or treatment.

The Camp Cope-A-Lot program does not take the place of treatment and is not sufficient for the treatment of an anxiety disorder on its own. Camp Cope-A-Lot and CopingCatParents.com are for educational purposes.

Camp Cope-A-Lot recommends that parents seek immediate psychological, medical, or mental health services for their children in cases in which a diagnosis of a mental health or psychiatric disorder is questioned or suspected.

Please note: Following a security update on all Windows platforms, the original Camp Cope-A-Lot was no longer working on most computers, so we converted it to a fully online program (no DVD required), now called Camp Cope-A-Lot Online. While the main CBT content is the same as in the original used in the research studies, the online program is not designed to save camper data. We recommend (as in the original version) that campers use the Go-To-Gadget to record their ladder from week to week and to record homework and review activities. The Go-To-Gadget can be downloaded and printed from within the program.
